Now that we have covered the wonderful benefits and one-of-a-kind sustainability of the BetterBone, let us address the basic safety do’s & don’ts to keep your pup healthy and happy.
At what point during the wear process should I get my pup a new BetterBone?
We recommend that your pup get a new BetterBone once the ends have worn down to where they are similar in size to the arms of the BetterBone. A good indication is to look at the dental ridges and/or numbs to see if they are full warn. Another great way is to look at the knuckle of the three ends. If you can no longer see the contours of the ends, it is time for a fresh round of BetterBone goodness!
Is it bad if my dog’s gums bleed?
Bleeding gums, just like in humans, is a sign of inflammation. Light bleeding is expected in most cases, especially with the dental ends are chewed and plaque is broken up off your dogs’ teeth. BetterBones are not a substitution for tooth brushing. If significant bleeding is observed, this is an indicator that your dog may need veterinary care.
Is it ok if my dog consumes pieces of their BetterBone?
Yes, BetterBone is designed with an optimal density to mitigate the risk of tooth fractures. As a result, BetterBone will flake off as your dog enjoys playtime. You will notice some very small pieces left behind in the area, and sometimes those pieces are ingested. The incredible benefit to BetterBone is its 100% natural composition. With that being said, we do recommend your dog be monitored for safety at all times.
Is the Better Bone hypoallergenic?
In short, yes! The bone uses wood fiber and plant-based oil. We use none of the bark, cones, needles, or leaves of the trees used to produce our bone which is where allergens are found in the tree. We use fir and pine tree. If your dog has known allergies to any plant-based oils, bacon, or wood materials we advise that you consult your vet. Our ingredients are transparently listed on all product descriptions and packaging so that you can make an informed decision.
What makes your bone better?
There are four simple answers to this important question. First, we use just two natural ingredients. Second, our ergonomic design makes it easy to hold. Third, the BetterBone has a unique dental design incorporated into two of the three ends, making it one of the most well-rounded bones on the market. Lastly, our bone is sustainably made. See the next question for more details on this exciting feature!
What makes your bone sustainable?
This is a great question and one we love to answer. Our bone is made from 60% post-consumer, all-natural wood fiber and sustainable plant-based oil. Third part studies have indicated that our bone emits 85% less CO2 as compared to virgin plastic dog bones!
Trip Hazard Beware
When not in use keep your Better Bone in an out of the way place to prevent any potential tripping or fall hazards. This is a hard material product and has the potential to cause injury if stepped on. Remain vigilant in an attempt to prevent any unnecessary tripping or kicking of the better bone 🙂
